In the Summer of 2007, Adrian Lourie gained a First-Class Distinction on Newcastle College’s Foundation Degree in Photography. He was also presented with an Award for Excellence and Achievement on his course.

Whilst studying, Adrian was employed at NCJ Media Ltd on the Picture Desk as a Photographic Technician/Retoucher, working on publications incluidng the Newcastle Chronicle, Journal and the Sunday Sun. During that time he also worked as a Photographer on commercial commissions, as well as a Photographer’s Assistant.

In June 2007, Adrian was one of 30 photographers chosen from over 7,000 entries to exhibit at Arles 2007 as part of the HP/Magnum; Hype Gallery Street Photography Competition.

Following his winning entry to the Michael Ormerod Travel Award 2007, Adrian exhibited his travel project 'Blackpool – Wish You Were Here' in Newcastle in November 2007.

Also in November 2007 Adrian was one of 20 emerging national photography talents to be awarded the prestigious Nikon Discovery Award in London.


Adrian is currently working with editorial portrait photographer Graham Jepson in London as an assistant and occasional shooter. Adrian also finds time to undertake his own work which has been featured in The Guardian, The Express, New Magazine, OK Magazine, The Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday and The Irish Independent.
